ok this thought has been on my mind. according to conservatives, if women belong in the home to cook, clean, take care of the kids etc., why is erika kirk now the ceo of turning point? if that’s not a “woman’s place” why is she praised for taking it on?

Because very few conservatives believe that

But then how could they support a guy (Charlie Kirk) who did that?

Do they support the guy himself or do they agree with enough principles of the guy to say that they like the guy? How much do they agree with the guy? How much do they disagree?

It’s usually more complex than “I like the guy” but like 4 said, along with what I asked, the action taken in terms of debate it healthy for a democratic society. If we don’t talk, we isolate and fester.

There’s a difference between talking to someone versus giving them a platform.

it’s just hypocritical because she doesn’t believe in women being in positions of power but it’s ok and if anything ideal for her to do it, it’s another reason why i don’t like the republican party

If we deny someone a platform, we make it impossible to argue against them.

Surely, tours and merchandise aren’t necessary aspects to this.

This is like when people are mad that churches persuade people to give money to them. They have to pay for the place somehow…

Yes, and just like churches, sometimes the people in power get a lot of the money. I have zero opposition to anyone debating or arguing with him. I’m saying that his supporters either #1. were sexist as well, or #2. They knew he was sexist and didn’t care. but by following, buying, engaging, marching, etc they showed support for him. he was made into a political consultant, a figure of importance, a celebrity of the Republican Party.
