do people ever stop to think that crime happens in cities because there’s fucking people present & not because there’s a democrat as mayor or not????

Except it’s also not because there’s more people it’s the KIND of people there. You don’t see as much violent crime at sports venues even though there’s a lot of people because the ones committing crimes are elsewhere in the city

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But sports venues (especially at the professional and even the semi-pro level) are insanely busy for Law Enforcement. I work at a PD and our busiest days are game days working the event. It’s actually crazy how many people let sports dictate their emotions almost entirely, not to mention the alcohol at games and such.

Great point. Maybe if we have more Law enforcement, we might see less crime everywhere.

More LE presence doesn’t necessarily always correlate with lower crime. Sometimes it does, sometimes there are confounding factors, sometimes more police straight up make it worse.

as someone who works security, our presence at sporting events, in crowded arenas, etc. seems to do nothing in terms of deterrence. we’re mainly there to scold people & if needed intervene. if you replace me with a cop (which there are still cops around in addition to myself) not much changes when people are just emotional & impulsive. (or worse, intoxicated)

i also think it’s insane to say cities are a certain “kind” of people more prone to crime. that kind of language is bordering a line you don’t wanna cross. perhaps a better thing to consider would be poverty.
