The separation of people from where their food comes from isn’t just an issue with meat/animal, it’s also a huge issue for vegetables. If we want to talk about the climate impact of our food, talk about eating local! Prioritize local, seasonal diets!

While I do agree with you, I live in the north so if I wanted to eat local my diet would primarily comprise of corn and berries.

No but on a real note, we talk so much about knowing the climate impact of meat, and ethical issues of meat consumption when people who eat a steak couldn’t actually be involved with the process to get it to them. But what about the rest of our diets? People truly believe their tomato for their salad came from a farmer down the street? Like it’s November, you’re in Minnesota, it came of a truck from Mexico fam. Most people couldn’t tell you where their food originated, and that’s very concerning

Again I think that’s awesome but I feel we could solve a lot more problems if we work environmentalism INTO the system rather than trying to avoid the system all together. We see this with stabile forms of farming and we can see it further by cutting down on animal products, cleaner feed practices, and using trains for delivery instead of trucks. That said, eating local would be a part of this process.

I would but our water is so polluted from the industrial era that it’s only safe to consume 4 fish a month from our waterways if your an otherwise healthy individual. If you have any contributory factors like chronic illness, pregnancy, literally anything that’s not able bodied human the safe limit is 0 a month 😭

That’s for heavily polluted areas, such as the regions of the Mississippi with active ports. Check local advisories for your area! I’m in a more rural place so everything here is completely safe to eat at my hearts content

I’m off of Lake Erie and that’s the guidance our states DOH said, 4 fish nothing more because of all the mercury and other unknown chemicals that’s still present in the lake and waterways that branch off from it in the area from the heyday of steel manufacturing. Shits cooked around here 😭
