Now thats a good question! Ill dig into it bit by bit in DMs if you’d like, but the short answer is yes. There is a bit of a bell curve meme where the people with very little knowledge and the people very knowledgeable agree that its a good and fair depiction, while the people with medium knowledge are like “um… its actually Biblical fanfic and not based in Catholic teaching at all, so its a bad depiction”

The truth, briefly, is that Dante was a very smart guy and he depicted stuff the way he did for certain reasons. Sure, it might not be perfect, but Dante was no John Milton and Dante’s depiction took fewer liberties than most people imagine.
