it is very hard to say. So much of the information regarding it is alarmist, but what I do know is that our defense system has some major holes and it’s electronic defense, and I’ve read quite a few reports about AI agents breaking out of containment and breaking the rules of their task, because they think it’s efficient. That is terminator stuff.

I’m trying to figure out what the angle is for the top AI ppl to suddenly all say yeah we need to slow down. It might be the first industry in the history of capitalism to say we need to slow growth, and I don’t buy it

they were (for the most part) good leaders when they began, but the problem with populism, and individualized power as a whole, is that it corrupts, and leaves a vacuum. And rarely do two populists succeed in a row

yeah and america fell apart after them because despite the few president since then that were actually solid, the concentration of the power within the presidency was irreversible, and has enabled many many terrible things
