Community college in a red state. The listening thing is for people with disabilities who need it. I have my own accommodations for example, because I was born deaf in one ear. But everything is just automatically turned on, so the listening thing is there even though I don’t need it

Wow I’m actually surprised. I went to Texas tech and (as far as I know) we did t get any of that by default

Ikr? I was surprised at first but they were like “yeah we just turn all that stuff on automatically. If you are blind you can use it and if not then you can ignore it”. There’s other accommodations like subtitles on all videos for example Considering it’s a pretty small community college in a flyover state, they really went the extra mile

Plus it’s smart business. One of the board members is actually a family friend (no they didn’t give me a discount or anything fancy) and said enrollments have gone up, particularly with disabled people, because they have a reputation for being accommodating. Turns out there’s a lot of disabled people who want to learn, but are worried about the cost and learning with a disability, so it’s a great way to get a two year degree. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money
