Actually gay and lesbian couples can have kids too! It’s called adoption :)! Also what’s the point of having more kids when everything is too expensive? There’s a reason why my generation is having less kids, staying single, or just adopting if they actually want a kid. Birthing a child is also just miserable in this country it’s over 30,000 dollars just to have a kid. Also you can’t say “I don’t want to hear about infertile people” when it’s practically the same deal. You adopt.

Adoption is not a solution to needing more people. Adoption does not add a child to the population, it just moves a child already in the population to a new place. My point as to why marriage should remain between men and women without touching religion is that they PRODUCE children and help lessen the population crisis we seem to be staring down. I understand it is expensive to have kids, but married, straight couples usually make it work.

Reproduction doesn’t require marriage though, so it makes very little sense to restrict it to straight couples for that reason. If we’re solely focusing on reproduction, it would make far more sense to just boost benefits for anyone with children.

Banning marriage won’t prevent a relationship. Gay people will still be together, just not legally consummated. So banning gay marriage doesn’t solve the problem you’re playing Devil’s advocate for.

We don’t have a statistically significant population deficiency to be concerned, even so marriage does not correlate with reproduction (did you know we’re the only species that does marriage but 1000 species are gay) stop being a piece of shit
