The federal government spends over $50 billion annually funding anti-homelessness problems. State, local, and private spending far exceeds that.

If free collage, free healthcare, government owned housing, 50% tax rates, and a bunch of other things is not socialism than what is? The fire department and police stations are socialist institutions. You don’t need to have a “socialist party” in charge to be socialist.

Socialist economies prohibit or heavily restrict the use of private capital

You need free "collage" if you think socialism is preferable to capitalism 😂 Have you read Wealth of Nations?

Yea I have read wealth of nations, when that book was written banks where not getting bailed out for making stupid decisions with other people’s money. Our current government is someone socialist, just not towards people, but towards corporations.

Tbh, few people have read the wealth of nations. Although its very historically significant its over 900 pages long and super dry. It’s not the best intro to modern econ.

Because in a capitalist society institutions must flourish for the people to flourish... when spending ⬆️, money circulation ⬆️, causing industrial and economic ⬆️

Yeah you're right but it is important to understanding the evolution to the current economic climate... Read it as an extra credit assignment and only understood a quarter of it back then

Also, if you took Econ 101, you would know about the public goods model in economics, where if you invest in your own people then you will make your money back in taxes later on. Free collage means people enter the workforce with more value to corporations, so they make more money and get taxed more, then because they don’t have debt they are able to SPEND their money, create businesses, generate more wealth etc. it’s the same reason we build roads

(Bold assumption that I haven't), and modern studies have shown that a college degree isn't necessary to be successful in the work place. As a matter of fact, a large number of individuals with college degrees don't even work in a field related to their major. Additionally, the same things happen when corporations spend less money on manufacturing. In a capitalist society, when productions costs go down, sale costs go down. This then causes individuals to increase spending bc of inc money
