How exactly is this a debunk? Your explanation for the first one literally proves the point bruv.

Hence why the first line of explanation says gross distortion. It’s almost like you people genuinely want African Americans to feel this way about themselves

How is it a distortion when that is the direct implication of what he said?

It’s not exactly a gross distortion when that is exactly what Charlie Kirk is implying. And I also don’t get where you’re getting at with we want African-Americans to feel this “about themselves”. Attributing the great society and welfare programs as the sole or major reason for economic inequality in the black community is a gross sanitation of the historical impacts of Jim Crow and Slavery.

“Slavery is evil and so are the programs that devastate black communities by pushing a sense of helplessness on them in the 21st century, more than slavery ever has considering it no longer exists in America”. THAT is what Charlie Kirk is implying

Ever has in the 21st century. Since the left seems to still blame it for many things

But I think it’s silly how you’re trying to find something wrong with what I’m saying instead of using your teeny bit of brain power to understand a different viewpoint. Telling

I think if you used a teeny bit of your brain power to understand that a economic and social institution that lasted for centuries is still going to have a lasting impact on American society then you wouldn’t blame welfare of all things for the poor SES of many African American communities.

And I do understand the opposing viewpoint that you and Charlie Kirk have. It’s just flat out wrong.

How can you tell me my viewpoint is wrong??? Like unfortunately for you, the world just doesn’t spin that way. Slavery lasted for centuries and it has been over for nearly two. Equal opportunity surrounds us- a black woman was just vice president for fucks sake. I’m not going to sit here and say racism doesn’t exist, but it most definitely doesnt exist to the extent that causes the poor SES of African American communities. Instead of funding these communities we send tax $ to Ukraine and Israel-

Slavery was almost immediately followed with Jim Crow laws aimed at disenfranchising and preventing African-American communities from prospering after the end of slavery. I highly recommend that you look more into some of the discriminatory policies and actions that both state governments and the federal government have done well into the 60s and the 70s.

We don’t encourage education and work and mental health and we don’t say a peep about inner city violence and gangs. Instead we say here black communities! Take this welfare check and keep things the same forever. The left lives in the past and doesn’t actually want black communities to rise up

Oh also good we agree that we should fund these communities more. Glad we’re on the same page 👍👍

Education, work and mental health requires robust welfare systems that have been significantly defunded since the 80s. How else do you think you’re supposed to uplift these communities and prevent inner city violence? It seems like the only solution that people on the right currently have for some reason is just send the national guard for a couple of weeks and then have a Kumbaya.

Welfare is definitely not the cause for the socioeconomic inequality that we see— it’s the lack of welfare. And you can’t say in the same breath that people have equal opportunity when such wide, social disparities exist in the first place.

I will genuinely look more in depth at Jim Crow. And I am happy that we can agree on something lol. Sure there are undoubtedly multiple causes of socioeconomic inequality but I do wholeheartedly believe welfare is one of them. 10 years ago I think welfare was a lot different. It was a way to get back on your feet or on your feet in the first place. It’s not being used that way anymore in part because we tell people it’s okay to depend on it and they do! It also causes extreme economic isolation

I don’t know if you’ve seen or heard of the welfare queen lol, but her image was pushed on black communities in the 70s and further reinforced the idea that it’s perfectly okay to be dependent upon a resource that is meant to temporarily uplift you. Somehow the message got lost, and is still lost, that there’s also a large individual responsibility to uplift yourself in the process

The Welfare Queen was a pretty horrible and racist stereotype/caricature that was popularized by the Reagan administration. I don’t see it as a salient criticism of the Great Society welfare programs. It was largely based off of one person’s abuse of the system, Linda Taylor, who was listed as white according to official records.

Of course there’s going to be abuse and waste within welfare systems, that’s honestly the truth with any government program in general, but I think using that as an excuse to defund welfare programs or argued that their overall that impact has been negative for minority communities is a misleading argument.
