The riots after his death made as much impact as he himself did and i don’t know if that is sad or good

You guys are delusional if you think a social movement that galvanized millions of people had no effect on the U.S. MLK did have an impact just like how Bernie had an impact, you can’t tell me he didn’t have a good shot at the presidency. Social movements can have real impact they just have to have effective methods.

Nah. The CIA isn’t sloppy first rule of government backed assassinations is never have the shooter be taken alive.

The message is MLK was ineffective, because he died. Most of the comments here have been about how MLK’s actions amounted to nothing and it was actually Malcolm X’s school of philosophy which got anything accomplished, this is what I disagreed with. That’s the social context of current political arguments.

water isn't blue.... that's lighting. anyway, i want you to clarify because nobody has said his actions "amounted to nothing" so i'm wondering whose comment you interpreted that way. if you were mistaken you can just say that instead of being snarky but that's totally up to you

They can't provide a screenshot because there is none. Nobody even so much as implied that. I smell a troll 🧌

they said the riots were as effective as his advocacy... and the riots were incredibly effective. i think they're adding to OPs sentiment and saying it's sad that it took a brief period of widespread destruction to achieve a similar degree of change that it took him years to accomplish with peaceful action. unless they think the riots were ineffective but i doubt that's what they're implying cuz... well they were and it's very clear even to racists and bigots lol

Honestly you might be right, it just kind of pissed me off because I thought they were saying MLK effectively did nothing because he was generally non-violent which is not true. Especially since similar non-violent movements like Ghandi’s protests in India have achieved change.

I was saying that it is just sad that violence in a short period makes as much change as the many years of MLKs life that he completely committed to making America equal. I’m not a red pill incel I promise 😭
