Yeah, I’ve noticed the act is rarely called a murder in headlines or news articles. It’s always couched in such a way that I assumed it was to avoid lawsuits

Wouldn’t it be like “falsely” accusing whoever shot the person of committing a crime before they’re charged with murder, essentially defaming them?

Again if you wrong it doesn't matter, a lot of civil trials you aren't allowed to bring up past actions
