Bro, you weren’t even alive when Kissinger was politically active. It’s cool and all to talk about past political admins and their current day effects but holy shit…you’re either lying or you’re just actually a really sad person.a coworker told me he died and i went “nice!” and then we discussed how he was a bad person and reminded each other about how he shot a guy in the face during a hunting trip (we’re all naturalists & sportsmen). how is any of that performative… that’s just a regular old American interaction…
That’s not performative. You’re talking about something you did in passing with a coworker. That’s normal and 99% probably happened. The performance is when you say “When me and my coworker heard the news, we went out and just had to get shots and then we did a kegger celebrating Cheney’s death. It was awesome!” Do you get why it’s a performance now?
do you automatically associate the term “celebrate” with massive gestures of joy and spectacle? … because i think that’s where we’re losing common ground. if I celebrate that i caught the final out in a softball game, it’s not what you described. it’s like a “three cheers for us!” and then we just talk about it… a hyperbole about popping a champagne bottle is silly bc nobody is actually spending MONEY to celebrate a politician’s death lmao especially not in this economy.
