In some post soviet countries there are some very nice renovated towers. With fairly simple, fairly affordable modifications you can make these sorts of things look pretty nice. And it’s certainly better than the disgusting looking modern architecture slop our new apartments have, and those cost a ton to live in.

You do know that basically almost all the industry and population centers of the USSR got affected by the war right? nearly all of European Russia was occupied. Meanwhile the US was essentially the only intact economy in the world post war.
