Sanger tried to argue for eugenics that was not applied based on race or religion. But in a society built on the belief of white supremacy, physical and mental fitness are always judged based on race. Eugenics, therefore, is inherently racist.

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 2d

Sanger aligned with the eugenics movement but outside of that it’s a reach She literally worked with W.E.B. Du Bois to establish abortion clinics for the black population who distrusted predominantly white medicine and told Du Bois it was necessary to “avoid the perception of exterminating the Negro population” you fell susceptible to misinformation, that’s okay, you don’t need to double down on provably wrong information

Yes Sanger was a eugenicist, but that doesn’t mean Planned Parenthood was invented to abort black babies specifically lol

Yes but she founded it on those principles. So much so that they had to remove her name from the building

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon

yeah Planned Parenthood denounced Sanger’s belief in eugenics and her racist legacy, it doesn’t make Planned Parenthood made explicitly for eugenic or racist reasons tho, that’s a diff claim entirely and not supported by available evidence

Who aborts the most babies? It’s blacks, their population is declining because of abortions

No, systemic racism won’t make a black woman abort her child. That has nothing to do with racism

Okay so she believed in it but she founded it for other reasons. Such as helping the black community kill their own children got it

Anonymous replying to -> #1 2d

What is that racist now, what should I call them

upvote 0 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 2d

systemic racism leads to black women on average being poorer aka not having as many funds available to be able to support a child also black communities have less access to free contraceptives bc they have worse healthcare facilities so they have more unplanned pregnancies so yes it’s primarily due to structural inequalities due to their race

stupid oversimplification condoms can rip, people can forget to take birth control, IUDs can fail IUDs are expensive without insurance and many black communities have worse healthcare facilities without access to IUDs at the same level not to mention black women are statistically more likely to be in abusive relationships

upvote 5 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 2d

Well again, if you fear you may have a child then don’t have sex. Black women being in abusive relationships is another issue. Government has given so many hand outs to the black community that men are not allowed to be men anymore. When a man is not able to provide he will be destroyed and that’s what we’re seeing happen in the black community

Anonymous replying to -> #8 2d

logical fallacies all over 50% of people that remove abortions in the U.S. used contraception during sex, the “consequence” occurs even when considered responsibly and like I said, this doesn’t even consider the fact that black women systemically have less access to contraceptives in the first place you don’t tell someone in a car accident, “don’t drive a car if you don’t want a broken leg”, instead we provide medical care (surgery/abortion)

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 2d

Well no contraception is 100% effective. If you have sex of any kind you risk pregnancy. The best way to avoid pregnancy is to not have sex. Abortion kills the fetus and is also not safe for the mother of the baby. It’s a fact that there is a high spike in depression followed by an abortion, I’ve seen it happen in my own family

upvote 0 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 2d

yeah bc sex is def purely for procreation and not recreational whatsoever what you’re basically saying is poor people shouldn’t have sex the “missing” men in black communities comes from mass incarceration due to the war on drugs rather than “government handouts”, black men have been incarcerated at vastly disproportionate rates compared to other races for the same crimes since the 70s also most households are dual income now lol

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 2d

White people do drugs do, you can’t blame the government for locking up criminals. My mother had nothing and 3 generations of my family lived in 300 square feet. This has nothing to do with money. Children are a miracle and it doesn’t take a fortune to raise them. You should want the best for your children and if you can’t raise them then give them up for adoption. An orphan is better than a dead baby

A. Abortion is safer than childbirth (8.8 deaths per 100,000 for childbirth compared to 0.6 per 100,000 for abortion) B. There is no credible evidence that a single selective abortion causes mental health problems C. Suggesting total abstinence to avoid pregnancy is practically the same as suggesting holding your breath to avoid air pollution, human beings need sex biologically D. You’re effectively arguing for the punishment of people who responsibly used contraceptives and did everything right

Anonymous replying to -> #8 2d

You can’t read anything I say holy fuck Do you know what “disproportionate” means? It means black people are MUCH more likely to be locked up for the SAME crime than other races, aka they are unfairly targeted by the carceral system And raising a child is 100% expensive, 66% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck and the average annual cost of raising a child here per year is over $20,000

Doctors used to recommend smoking… I guarantee you that’s not safe at all. I’ve seen my family member die and think of the child she aborted right before she passed. She died with that on her mind so you can’t say it doesn’t cause mental health problems

Anonymous replying to -> #8 2d

or maybe she could’ve been depressed because she was dying? Idk tho Plus a single case doesn’t mean it happens for everyone, are you aware of the difference between anecdotal and statistical evidence? One person is allergic to water, does that make being allergic to water common?

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 2d

That’s not true at all first of all. Again it’s possible to raise a child when you’re poor. I was born in a post communist state that had high poverty, I had to share bath water with my family because we couldn’t afford the water bill. I’d take that over an abortion any time

That’s an evil way to think. The last thought that popped into her mind while dying of cancer is the child she aborted 10 years ago? I doubt that’s a one off

last thought that popped into her head while dying means she was horribly depressed bc of it? that’s a reach, there’s no way to know why she was depressed, depression is often more complicated than a single cause, it fits your narrative, but it’s unverifiable and does not fit the statistical evidence I can’t believe I have to explain 5th grade science to you rn but then again you wrote a paper on blatant misinformation so…

yeah, I can admit the $23,000 figure was an average and an estimate and not a figure for low-income families, different sources have different figures, but $8,000 is still a fuck ton of money lol for some living paycheck-to-paycheck also abortion being murder or not murder is not relevant to our original conversation and is a moral opinion on either side rather than an objective fact, you can feel either way ab it I’m fine with that

Anonymous replying to -> #2 2d

Yeah I’ll agree with you on that one. But as someone who came from a family making well under $3,000 USD a year I’m saying it can be done. The government should do more to help black families and get black fathers to be around. Well not never black but all low income families. Abortion is not a good answer because you deprive a child of its right of life.

Born in 2004. I’m a business student. $3,000 a year was not enough to buy meat and for everyone to shower. I was raised eating bread and potatoes and my family all shared bath water because it’s all we could afford. My country was very poor and escaped communism not long before I was born. I know what it’s like to be in third world country poverty believe me

When a country is communist its people tend to be very poor. $5,000 today won’t buy you anything. Trust me I’ve lived it, we couldn’t buy anything. $5,000 a year is only $400 a month, that’s not enough for my mother to support two people. Do your research on what happened in Eastern Europe after WW2 it’s devastating

I know what happened in Eastern Europe after WWII and saying “communism” made Eastern Europe poor is a gross oversimplification and not historically accurate Wealth was lower, but there was also guaranteed employment, universal education, and basic healthcare, all of which are no longer guaranteed There were benefits and costs rather than it being all bad, just like anything else

Yes there’s was guaranteed employment. My grandma was a math teacher, she knew nothing about math or teaching. She also made no money, she got coupons instead. When you wanted something you put your name on a list and they call when it’s your turn. Took my grandma 7 years on a waitlist to get a couch.

I’ve visited multiple communist countries (Vietnam, Cuba) and have read all about Eastern Europe, I’m not denying the struggles of communist rule but capitalism has lots of very clear issues as well and to deny that is absurd imo But what does this have to do with the fact you claimed Planned Parenthood was created to kill black babies when that is factually untrue?

Well it’s not and stating the black people should get abortions because they can’t afford to have children is a bad way to think about it because it’s always possible to have children. They’re a blessing from god and they have a right to live

I’m not stating they “should”, I’m not putting any moral weight on it, I’m simply explaining how systemic inequality contributes to higher abortion rates in the black population, it’s not being irresponsible, there are legitimate systemic barriers and factors
