I feel like libs don’t understand, if wage goes up, everything goes up.

So, minimum wage to $30 is insane. But the city owned grocery stores takes the insanity to a whole new level

The best part is that corporately owned stores will have to drive down their prices to compete!

Everyone uses it and everyone pays a bit so everyone pays the same is how this stuff works.

But if you don’t use it why should they pay for it. It’s like paying for a Netflix subscription but never watching Netflix.

most new yorkers (in the city) dont drive, many cant drive. why do they pay for roads? all this roadwork, for what? they dont use them. they use sidewalks, (should all be sidewalks and walking paths) or bikes or subways. maybe theres one lane for busses, and that they pay for. but all this other stuff is crazy! "if you dont use it why should they pay for it" is damn right!

Actually the $30 minimum wage is much more insane than a city owned grocery store

no dude, when wages go up people spend more when wages don’t match the cost of living people spend less creating a recession

Even with a small tea one of my local shops in queens would have it come out to less than $15

But you would have to spend more cause the product would be more expensive. Let’s say there is a company that makes toys, the workers and delivery services work for $20 an hour, then they get raised to $30 an hour but the product is still selling at the same rate so the company would be loosing money. So to combat this the company then has to sell the toy for more. So it becomes a cycle

ok so what’s the solution then to make things affordable

I feel like what trump is doing with the tariffs will help with that in the long run. Cause it costs so much to bring stuff over seas, that once we start making things in America prices will eventually lower. Along with other things but I know what we can’t do is feed into the cycle so it just gets worse.

You can’t bring short term solutions to long term problems or you’ll get more long term problems

it only will eventually lower if we actually start making things in america which requires infrastructure we don’t have so how are tariffs going to fix anything they r just going to make everything more expensive plus like come on no econ people think that’s a good idea

Okay regardless of whatever point is being made here, $21 for a bagel lunch is fucking nuts lol. I can go down to my local bagel place and buy a flavored bagel with flavored cream cheese, both of which are an upcharge, a bag of chips, a coffee and a slice of cake for like, $15. A $21 bagel lunch better come with a foot massage at those prices lol

I’m from central queens so I go to shops in Rego park, forest hills and kew gardens hills depending where my commute takes me. Even out in long island though I’ve never seen a bagel reach $20 unless you’re overloading on spreads and toppings

Well the fact is that entrepreneurs are starting to make more things in America which is making more jobs, which is good, and also bringing more money to AMERICA

no not entrepreneurs in order for tariffs to pay off we would need manufacturing to be done here which is sooooo much more expensive and that’s why we ship it overseas
