Well for awhile there you had the universities (mine at least) every major news network minus Fox (Ofcourse) and a bunch of Fortune 500 companies all promoting stuff in unison and I’ll admit, I was even like “is any of this even real?”

“Stuff” I recall from that time: Every girl on OF in my partners network would put whatever flag, tag, etc in their TikTok’s regardless if it was on topic. BLM was huge for anything sports/retail, pride month was hijacked by nearly every company but they wouldn’t change their logo for places in the Middle East (I found that to be hypocritical and the move of opportunists). The university held special events for each. It was as if we just all of a sudden had a new set of holidays but instead 1/2

2/2 of celebrating something, it always had this negative tinge to it where people expected us to be loud and pick fights over whatever the “influencers” said needed to be done. Reminded me of bladerunner… like do we just take orders from the phone people now? The fuck is happening?

It was like, and I’m making a joke here but I’m sort of serious, it felt like political events became the opposite of door dash. Like we were getting door dashed back and instead everyone was like “let’s go to the such and such event that was promoted by xyz influencer” and you would show up and they would be selling “swag” and I’m like this whole thing is the worse aspects of both capitalism and communism combined. Communist propaganda hijacking political causes, with capitalist exploitation.

Look I may or may not be a bit high right now but that’s what it felt like. Bladerunner in that… people just uploaded a new personality from TikTok every day. People weren’t even discussing their own lives… just what was trending on TikTok. Like an update was made to their mental software. Door dash in that it was as if people’s phones gave them a series of alerts of where to be and what to do when they got there. (I’ve never door dashed I just think that’s how the app works but w/ food)

An observation is not a claim of understanding. Normally: in a healthy group genuinely seeking truth, an observation is presented then discussed with curiosity rather than written off as “dumb”. Some people showed that curiosity so there is hope. Right now it would seem the half of people who think they “understand what’s going on” does not include you or OP. I wasn’t even saying OP or the people calling my observation “dumb” wrong. I was merely pointing out that’s not my observation of 1/2

Just because it doesn’t make sense to you doesn’t mean the observation of the pattern I’m seeing not just in friends, I’m feeling them myself, is inauthentic. If I were to go to a doctor and say “hey I’m feeling exhausted, it started when I noticed this piece of radioactive rock was embedded in my foot.” He wouldn’t say “that’s dumb, rocks embedded in feet only cause pain, not exhaustion.” If he was a scientifically minded doctor, he would say “that’s curious, what about that specific 1/2”
