Speaking of South America have you ever heard about the Criollo horse? Originally Criollo meant a person or animals of Spanish descent. These horses are from Argentina(there are multiple different types of criollo like the Colombian criollo which is a breed of Paso Fino horse). The Argentinian criollo can trace its ancestors to horses that either escaped or were set loose in Argentina. The breed is prized by the Gauchos of South America.
