not entirely practical, sure there could be some form of power given to tribes in america but at the end of the day, that’s not going to happen.

As much as I am for this how are you gonna give power back to an extreme minority in a group of 360 million people. Do you mean their historical lands? I’m sure something could be arranged but it’s not practical to move the people who probably currently inhabit it. It’s a nice and sweet idea but it doesn’t have any fundamental basis in realism. Having said that Amerindians have def been mistreated and forms of restitution of some sort should be investigated

who said anything about people having to move after giving land back to native/indigenous Americans? it sounds like you don’t really know much about the land back movement at all tbh

practical land back starts with taking public lands (national parks, wmas, etc.) and ceding them back to the indigenous nations

RE: “that’s not going to happen”, when I named one explicit example of it happening very recently. Want more? If you also include Shasta, Tule River, Washoe Tribe Pomo tribe, and the tribal stewardship policies being put in place, over 7 million acres are being returned to the authority of tribal nations. Precedents are being set, drop your defeatist and dismissive mindset

how convenient. you are the model performative liberal/leftist. native people are still here and people like you shouldn’t be driving the social narrative of American politics.

I mean tell me if I’m wrong OP but I think the point of the post is that while a successful transition to communism would be most ideal, that’s not going to realistically happen anytime soon so the best we can do now is democratic socialism. Which is a step in the right direction and more achievable than an immediate cessation of capitalism

Yk reading your comment I realized I misread the post and swapped my words around lmao. Point still stands tho, social democracy is a better first step towards democratic socialism and ultimately communism than nothing. Although I know some folks believe even entertaining those ideologies harms the greater mission, which I think I disagree with but I’m open to hear about

leftism starts at anti-racism and blatantly stating that you don’t care about landback, which is a core issue in the indigenous American community, is racism. So you’re either a liberal or worse in this instance. Because suggesting “some type of restitution” but disregarding the work being done is performative, dismissive, and racist.

I’d encourage everyone to do some research and read about this from Indigenous people directly! It’s the root of pretty much all our political issues right now.

exactly, especially in the global climate change conversation. We need to more people to be aware and understanding of this and not be dismissive. Indigenous people will lead us back to sustainability. It’s not a matter of being of being more “woke” than another, it’s just being to actually effectively comprehend the weight intersectionality has in local and global politics. Indigenous people will lead us back to balance in the coming lifetimes.
