Oh no the Turkish government fucking sucks. They’re doing settler colonialism in Cyprus. They destroyed the Greek communities of Constantinople, Imbros, and Tenedos in recent memory despite agreeing not to as part of the population exchange agreement. They’re currently brutalizing Kurdish communities. And they as government policy deny their genocidal actions towards Greeks, Armenians, and Assyrians.

The destructions of the Greek communities in Imbros and Tenedos is so acutely evil to me, because not only was it within living memory, there is no way to obfuscate it under the guise of war (like with Cyprus), and the Turkish government specifically agreed in writing that they would not do it.

I am just very hesitant about any stuff which seems “deus-vult”-esque lately with how things have been going. And I think very often individual Muslim people are incorrectly treated as invaders without a right to live somewhere (most acutely with Palestinians).
