I mean I'm all for open education but at a certain age a parent does have the right to control their childrens media intake, and as a parent I will not always assume that the public education system has my childs best interests in mind. And there are things that a school could say that would make me very angry, usually flat out misinformation is what bothers me in public school.

If you think a school has the right to teach your children whatever you please don't complain when your child grows up to be an idiotic person incapable of thinking critically and regurgitating objectively false information, a reasonable parent would do everything they can to nurture their child's mind and ensure they're making the connections they need to be making. If you wanna let the govt turn your kid into a mindless slave go ahead, I'll pass.
