Door dash has been visibly working on decreasing their prices. You can tell. Part of this is suggesting smaller tips, but they’ve also decreased the price of some items and shit. But it’s not enough. Because it’s a fundamentally unstable business.

DoorDash just needs to stop being scummy. They mark up food prices against the actual restaurants wishes and pocket the extra (which is illegal and they have been sued for before). Don’t mark up the food, allow people to pay that extra in a tip. But then of course the CEO wouldn’t be able to see any of it so that’ll never happen

Dog the tips are already basically nothing. Working DoorDash is just technologically mediated slow bankruptcy. Once you pay for gas and waste your time waiting around for no tip you barely ever make above 7 bucks profit/hour

Correct but without pocketing that money, their business literally makes no money and stops existing. Which is what I want, tbf. But you’ll never get a less scummy version of DoorDash. Either they’re scummy so they can stay around, or they’re a good company that lasts a day. Their business cannot sustain anything else.

I mean they could just instead put that cost into the service fees. That way they’re at least not making themselves liable for more lawsuits

Tbf, I think this is what they’ve started doing. The food prices have been normalized but the service fees have increased equally
