Unless oil hits $70+ a barrel for an extended period of time it’s just very unlikely, investors seem more into buying oil fields in Canada rn and aren’t even drilling on all they land they do have permitted bc the rigs they do have set up are barely breaking even

They have money out the ass, and your point of not drilling all the land they have answers your conjecture. Just buy to buy, investment for the future

It’s a terrible investment is what I’m trying to get across, for example, last time Trump did this, Biden just cancelled the deal afterwards. It’s the same with logging in the Tongass, one President says it’s okay to do, the next one just says “actually no”, so now no one really trusts the govt to let them use the land
