Pattern recognition is seeing that black people are over represented in prisons compared to their percent of the population. Racism is blaming that situation on the individual character or quality of those black people instead of the system that created this situation

Both are to blame honestly. You can’t sit here and say it’s entirely the system when there are a plentiful amount of Black Americans in high appointed positions. Everything is dependent on where you’re from, your house hold situations, etc. as someone who grew up in “ghettos” and low income neighborhoods, people learn and are taught certain standards very differently. Not having present and strong parental figures in the home is where problems start.

Where do most black people live and why do they live there?

When thinking about these things you can either explore the reasons that the trends are so skewed towards harming minorities or you can say that the issue is something inherently present in those minorities themselves, which, to me, is just racism.

I mean think about what redlining and over incarceration did to the parents and grandparents of black kids going through school today. You really think that impact stopped affecting people?

Are you assuming the majority of blacks live in ghettos? Cause that’s the least bit true 😂 with such a low population, percentages could very well be higher in certain areas. Regardless, problems within the Black Community don’t just come from certain areas. A lot of problems are present with those who are in gated communities. A lack of direction is where most tend to fall victim to said problems. There’s nothing legally or societally limiting the Black community in today’s time.

The majority of black people live in poorer communities than the average white person does, just like the average black family has a lower household income than average white ones do. Which is the result of decades of racist policies who’s after effects leave us with lasting inequality today

There are many things limiting black communities, they’re the result of systemic inequality and well documented. Black comminities that were over policed have higher rates of absentee parents, which causes harm. Black communities that were forced into industrially polluted areas by redlining have more health issues to this day. Many things like this

Just like freed slaves weren’t immediately equal with white men following emancipation, black people today aren’t immediately equal with white people simply because Jim Crowe laws are off the books. White people who built the power structures to benefit them still largely control those power structures. Look at our government right now, perfect exampl of this
