It’s so weird that Americans typically view support of the second amendment as being a politically right-leaning viewpoint. The right to arms is clearly a politically left-leaning viewpoint. What do you think guys in the 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s wrote abt?

It’s traditionally leftist. Communists, socialists, syndicalists, and pretty much all of the leftist political ideologies of the day have something to do with arming the people for the purpose of eventual revolution and/or class consciousness.
