If you read the article linked above, it speculates in pretty clear terms how this might explode out of hand. If you’re intellectually curious, give it a read. I think you’ll be surprised as I was. It appears less and less that AGI requires some insane jump in technology, and may be far closer than expected. this is merely the worst-case for AI.
Realistically, we will regardless be replaced in a breadth of fields by remote workers that prove themselves more capable than any human. Office jobs, family doctors, personal assistants, lawyers, teachers, virtually anything removed from physical labor. These “AI Agents” are actively being developed and LLMs or otherwise, will eat away at an already dying American jobs market. Our only growing sectors are in medicine and the gestapo.
Besides, my initial post was about Palantir, something that should definitely scare you. It’s the underlying software found in the privately-outsourced police cameras you see on the side of the road or in grocery store parking lots. These cameras, in conjunction with Palantir, track everywhere you go, predict consumer behavior, and are used in particular to hunt down enemies of capital or the state (with widely variable accuracy)
