It was never a bluff, he was forced into buying Twitter by the SEC at penalty of heavy fines or even jail time. It’s a very happy convenience for Musk that he swapped to the alt right and completely changed the platforms algorithm to push that agenda

I thought it was something that he was “joking” about, then when he saw the actual price tag wanted to back out but since he had already done fundraising to acquire it, that’s why the SEC stepped in
