Sure I do think there are arguments both ways. There is some harm done and there is some “good” done but I think overall there is nothing wrong with vetting who lives in this country with IDs and background checks. That was the main point I was trying to make. Does that mean I support everything that ICE does? No. But I can at the very least stand behind the overall goal of supporting legal immigrants and knowing who is living in the US.
So I guess you didn’t read my entire previous message. I’ll just say again, I don’t support everything that is happening or the way some things have been carried out but that doesn’t change the fact that at the base level I still think illegal immigration is wrong and I see no issue with deportations. Other countries do it too. There is nothing wrong with the concept in its simplest form.
Other countries have comprehensive gun laws. Is the metric for how are system should work based on what other countries do? No one wants open borders but the rhetoric surrounding illegal immigrants on the right is not factually grounded and also seems to represent the actual actions they are taking.
gun laws are opening up an entirely different route of conversation. I was just saying that nobody seems to complain when other countries do it. Again, I will stress to you that I’m not condoning everything that is being done in regards to deportations however there are those cases that make people weary of who is in the country or trying to get in. There are people out there who think open borders is the solution and as long as you and I can agree it’s not, then we share that lane of thought.
I’m not a UK Citizen and this isn’t “UK Politics”. No one thinks open borders is the solution it’s not a viable political position. This is literally just right wing lies. Illegals immigrants commit SIGNIFICANTLY less crime per capita than US citizens AND are major contributors, not only to the economy on aggregate but also to local, state, and federal taxes.
There are definitely people out there with very radical ideas when it comes to borders. Maybe you just aren’t hearing or seeing them. I’m sorry but I will not change my mind when it comes to supporting vetting and identifying everyone who comes in and out of this country. That is my stance at the most basic level. I’ve made this very clear. Also as a side note, by definition, illegally entering the country is a civil offense and a civil offense is a violation of the law.
I cannot emphasize to you enough that legalizing racial discrimination for deportations, eliminating due process, promoting the falsehood that there are “cultures that are not compatible with the west,” and spreading racist conspiracy theories not only doesn’t help legal immigrants, but are steps actively taken to harm them and erode their rights. If you think otherwise you’re really delusional respectfully
Ok I’ve said MULTIPLE TIMES that I don’t support some things that are happening in which HOW deportations are being done. But I still believe in them happening. Also it’s not really discrimination if nearly 70% of illegal immigrants are from Mexico or Central America. European immigrants are getting deported as well. There are also absolutely people and cultures with ideologies that do not coexist with western society. That’s not delusional it’s just a fact.
