If the death penalty is for killing the killers, why is there no rape penalty? Why can't we rape the rapists?

Hey we shouldn’t have a death penalty either, especially when we keep killing the wrong defendants and then exonerating them after the fact. Have you considered that this is maybe just a terrible fucking idea?

Besides the many obvious problems with this… who would be the state approved executioner in this scenario? It seems like a flippant side-question but it actually gets worse the longer you think about it.

I’m just exploring a logical conclusion of what the death penalty is about. If we’re gonna kill the killers we must rape the rapists. If not, then we must not have the death penalty either.

cruel and unusual punishment is prohibited by the 8th amendment And we shouldn’t have the death penalty, correct.

No stop acting like a fucking redditor the death penalty is far better than allowing murders to be set free or alive, not everything is “basic human empathy”

Because the purpose of the death penalty is not an “eye for an eye,” it’s removing someone from society who is incompatible

Okay? Yet many of those who have killed and are imprisoned for basically the rest of their lives pretty much don’t murder again. Raping the rapists won’t be eye for an eye, it’s to discourage rape. Much of rape is driven by a desire of expressing power and dominance, acting on such desires must come with the risk of feeling the opposite. Simple as.

Yes, this is a hard question, yet I think there are some absolute sickos who have yet to offend but will be willing to have a safe and ethical outlet as a career.

To be perfectly clear, your contention is that we should make the government murder innocent people even though it’s 100% avoidable. Do I have that right?

and yet we do, and that’s the one of the primary concerns with the death penalty.

It’s rare and also it’s highly unlikely for murder to be exonerated

I’m not a psychologist, but I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works. But even if it didn’t, wouldn’t prison also deprive people of power in the same way? Why take the chance to do inhumane punishments if it could fail to change their behaviors?

that seems like a morally questionable career
