No this pope is not based. He’s a relatively good one as far as they go, but he is still the head of a corrupt yet highly influential political/religious entity, he’s a step backwards from Francis in regards to several social issues mainly those involving gender and sexuality, and he’s been involved in multiple SA coverups

This isn’t the pope being for abortion, this is the pope being against the death penalty and immoral treatment of immigrants 😭

You can definitely be pro innocent life. Lumping mass murderers in with babies is actually insane. All lives are not equal

I was just going to say this. I think it’s an irrelevant comparison because you are trying to put unborn children and criminals/murderers on the same scale of judgement. I’m not sure it’s a fair fight simply because one population has no say in the outcome of their life if abortion is chosen. The other has made conscious decisions that resulted in them receiving the death penalty.

So then what of the illegal immigrants (as that’s what the pope is discussing)? There are innocent children who have no say. People who were part of programs that lapsed or never came to fruition, but going home will lead to certain death. The ones who get subjected to horrible treatment while they await their fate.

prove that every illegal immigrant will die if they go back.

Perhaps, but I don’t see a lot of people caring about innocent lives after they’re born. Children that end up homeless are innocent, starving kids are innocent, kids stuck in foster care are innocent. We don’t treat the innocent lives around us humanely.

Plenty of kids from uo in foster care .. get adopted and become rich. Look at Steve Jobs and Bezos

Not every illegal immigrant will (just like not every illegal immigrant is dangerous), but when they get sent to countries they don’t remember, active conflicts, or new countries they have never been death is a very likely outcome. In some cases it’ll be fine, but this isn’t simple.

It’s very simple. If you’re illegal you go back to where you came. The end

You have a very twisted view of foster care. Maybe there’s some lucky ones, but that is not the reality for many. There are not enough foster families to support all the kids in foster care. People do it for the wrong reasons. Kid may never find a forever home.

But you do realize that’s not what’s happening, right? Some countries won’t take back their citizens so they are being sent elsewhere. And what about people who came here with asylum promises, plans for green cards as they can’t be safe in their country. For example, they helped the U.S. military in an armed conflict. Do we send them back? What about kids who were adopted overseas? Only recently were they guaranteed to become U.S. citizens. Or came here legally, but stayed illegally?

When they get caught up in it, they do. When things aren’t done to remedy the situation, when things like it keep happening, it’s something that people need to know and discuss. This isn’t just criminals.

they are criminals by virtue of being illegal immigrants. I’m willing to bet a lot of money 95% + are not people who assisted the US military in operations …that needs to be looked into sure. But we’re not gonnna sit here and frame that as a prevailing issue as a whole

Anonymous replying to -> zkami 4w

I’m not saying it is. What I’m saying is a good amount of illegal immigrants came here legally. They have lived here legally and abided by the laws. At some point, their visas, asylum, etc. expired. In many cases those programs were abruptly cut this year. These are people who built lives here, contribute to society. Not all do that, but there has to be some leniency. If anything, it’ll help ensure that the resources are dedicated to the serious criminals and people aren’t against that.

So by your words, a pregnant illegal immigrant’s unborn child does not hold the same value of life as that of a pregnant us citizen? I think you need to reevaluate your stance. You’re either pro life for everyone or you’re not. If that’s not the case then leave women alone with their choice to have an abortion or not. You sound like an absolute dickhead.

I never claimed to be pro life. I’m not even religious. I don’t view pro choice vs pro life as a black and white issue. I view abortion as a grey area that requires nuance. If an illegal who is pregnant has a child here and the mother is caught her options are take her child with her or leave it here. She doesn’t get to stay

You don’t claim to be pro life but every answer you’ve given is literally advocating for it. You talk in hypotheticals as if families aren’t being ripped apart everyday. Abortion is not a grey area; women should have the option to chose, end of story.

yeah I simply don’t believe women by virtue of biology should have the unrestricted ability to slay children they created via their own actions. But at the same time I do not agree with a total ban on it.

And by virtue of biology I don’t bel men should have the ability to impregnate women. Vasectomies should be mandatory from birth. Do you hear how ridiculous you sound?

Except the ability to impregnate is not an option granted by an external force like abortion is So your point is kinda moot

An incomplete abortion is not granted by an external force. So you’re argument is kinda moot

if it’s incomplete then it’s not the abortions we are discussing now is it. Nice job trying to move the goal post though lmao

An abortion by literal definition is before 20 weeks. If it’s an incomplete abortion it’s means some pregnancy tissue was expelled from the uterus before the viability mark at 20 weeks dude. Holy shit, if you’re gonna have this stupid of a stance on abortion at least be educated on the topic.
