I’ve sort of been all over the spectrum over the last decade, though I’ve sort of settled into a bull moose liberal. What I see is that people who were raised very conservative—especially religious, tend to retain the moral and purity policing, they just point it at different people and goals. As for myself, I dunno, but I’ve had people describe me as a fairly earnest, rational kind of guy. I do find myself increasingly unempathetic to the right, though. At this point support for trump is

what about people who thought they were right leaning because that’s what their parents said but they always had emphatic values and gradually learned which groups that aligned with most
