non-violent sit-ins were no more than a mild inconvenience to the racist employees and patrons, yet it contributed massively to civil rights. the point is the tension. the point is the collective action. they backed away today, but there's always tomorrow

People have goldfish memories and don't realize that a protest not immediately causing change isn't a failed protest. It often takes months or years of organizing to see substantial change. eg. civil rights like you mentioned. These people are all larping like temporarily embarrassed revolutionaries who are gonna be there when things pop off but they're not gonna be part of anything important because they weren't there to make connections when people were getting the ball rolling

When we know that ICE will gleefully shoot protesters it's actually very brave to taunt them like that. The last killings led to riots and consequently a withdrawal of agents and troops. Ironically these frogsuit wearing goobers might end up martyring themselves and doing more for the entire planet in a single moment than you likely will in your entire life operating with this mentality. In the OSS handbook from WW2 about countering fascist movements, constantly and consistently inconveniencing them is a big part of antifascist tactics
