I want one thing and that’s for conservatives to please learn what freedom of speech is. That protects you from being jailed for speech not fired or kicked out of school. God conservatives are fucking dumb

Tbf it doesn’t protect you from being jailed for speech either. Hate speech and violent speech isn’t protected and can be legally actionable.

Violent threats are not protected, but hateful speech is protected by the first amendment

Hate speech falls into a weird grey area where it’s up to context and interpretation as to whether or not it’s actionable. Usually there has to be a threatening component to it.

If its a a call to violent action, it isn’t protected. That has nothing to do with whether or not it is hateful though.

hate speech is protected unless it meets one of four exceptions: incites imminent violence, makes a true threat, uses fighting words likely to provoke violence, or creates a hostile environment in work or school settings where it becomes discriminatory harassment under civil rights laws, even if otherwise protected.
