Yeah a throwback for sure but I was sorta bummed at how formulaic it felt. It was cool how he was encouraging us to lean on empathy at a time like rn but I was certainly hoping for more world building w respect to the actual aliens. Also thought it was funny that he mentioned ai in the scene abt tracking the protagonists but then didn’t mention it when all of the world is taking default alien found footage as fact 💀 if you sent that to a news station today they’d just ignore it
Dude ong! That was driving me crazy! Most of the movie I was just suspending my disbelief as the protagonists just ran around doing the dumbest shit possible. Nerd guy escapes super secret agents by crouching behind a fence and pretending to drive off a cliff? Then they escape from those agents again bc they didn’t think to check the back of the motel? And these crazy smart aliens apparently never figured out how to stop crashing their ships or just talk to the people directly?
Yeah I completely agree, sorta felt like watching Tyson get beat up by Logan Paul. Dude should’ve maybe hung it up in his prime. Idk that could be a bit harsh but I just got a B action movie / feel good flick when I sorta wanted a thought provoking alien movie with some new ideas for the genre.
