That is one thing the USSR was good at. If you weren’t dead or imprisoned from speaking out against your leader, you probably had a home. Not a good one, but you weren’t homeless.

The USSR actually did have a significant homeless population, although it was usually not in plane site sense homelessness was “illegal”.

I agree getting a low paying job isn’t difficult if you are mostly functioning. Some places are always hiring.
