and acting like they’re all criminals when a vast number of undocumented immigrants are here legally and have been on the unmoving waitlist to start the naturalization process for months, years, or in some cases DECADES. a friend of mine’s uncle has been on the waitlist for 40 years

there are mcdonald's drive thru's that require more paperwork to get through, and the people at those windows didn't spend decades or even centuries making it harder for darker people to order while destabilizing the places they drove from. to act like it's anywhere near the same is willful ignorance or genuine stupidity

and even the ones here illegally many came here legally then got trapped in exploitative work contracts that underpay and mistreat them and also intentionally last longer than their visas for leverage over them. and the ones who actually came here illegally unless they are literally smuggling or trafficking are not a problem. they’re people and we should be putting the funding not toward detaining and separating people but instead making the citizenship/residency process accessible
