Who is being dehumanized or demeaned in that post? Racists and homophobes making jokes about their viewpoints are dependent on them hating those groups. Which groups are being targeted ?

You can use the same argument as someone and one argument can be valid depending on the context and the other might not be valid depending on the context. “It’s a joke” IS a valid argument in many cases, it’s not in others.

Obviously it’s not valid in the case of excusing homophobia or racism. Could you explain how it’s not valid in the case of the original poster?
