day one and this nation had chattel slavery and two genocides to it’s name, in addition to being headed by a military general (and slaver) who only stepped down out of his own “benevolence”

The US has been a de facto fascist police state since the passage of the patriot act in 2001. It’s always been a capitalist oligarchy.

One cannot be surprised America has devolved into fascism because for years it has always been fascist to POC, the indigenous americans, and so many others. The reason it is being finally called one today is because it started effecting white people Talk to the indigenous peoples whose families have suffered for centuries and continue to suffer, the impoverished communities that the police continue to prey on, and the queer people who were allowed to die due to aids. It’s always been fascist

So most white people in the United States before the civil war (and after with Jim Crow) were bad people?

…yes? I think racial bigotry is BAD actually. And you can’t make the claim that it was the only way of life they knew when it’s a fact that abolitionism was rapidly becoming more prevalent in political discussions both in the years before the civil war, and in the years after with anti segregation activists

Like I would ENTERTAIN the thought if we were talking about the fucking 1600’s or before. And that’s a big if. But as early as the founding fathers, they were aware slavery was a moral failing but didn’t want to address it

It’s funny how we have no problem accepting a massive chunk of the German population was either active in perpetuating or acting as bystanders during the Holocaust, with only a select few actively fighting against it, but when it comes to slavery, suddenly it’s crazy to say white people were the dominant oppressors

people have such a difficult time processing and acknowledging the severity and depravity of US white supremacy. Hell, it’s documented that Hitler took inspiration FROM US, from Jim Crow segregation, our dehumanization and forced gassing of immigrants at the border (see the bracero program, and the southern border’s former program for forcibly “sterilizing” (fucking scumbags) immigrants based on the fear of lice (which was sparked by an outwardly racist San Fran mayor (if I remember correctly))

people delude themselves so much in order to justify their continued held support for white supremacy. many of them don’t even recognize that they hold white supremacist ideals due to how conditioned it’s been into the masses :/
