I travel back and forth to the south and at least the area I travel to, people aren’t terribly out of shape. In fact most of the blue collar people are fairly fit. Cities like Atlanta and Charlotte vary, but most of the obesity in the south I would guess is Louisiana and Mississippi. One sec let me see if there’s a national map by county.

Yeah it’s strange it centers around the Mississippi. I would balk at the “there’s something in the water” people but… heck. There might be.
