Fair, he’s Indian-Ugandan but frankly I wouldn’t say he or Kamala are really “Indian representation”, Kamala maybe but Zhoran’s been very good about avoiding identity politics and sticking to policy and attacking the actions (or lack of actions) of other mayoral candidates. I like his campaign, hopefully when I’m moved to NYC in Jan. he’ll be in office.
There are presidents who are literally dual citizen members of the sovereign order of Malta, and as mentioned I don’t yet live in NYC so I likely wouldn’t have seen any ads in Hindi. He’s not as vocal about his ethnicity as many other candidates, and definitely nowhere on the level of the two mentioned in the first post in terms of identity politics. He’s the only candidate who refuses to bow to foreign interests.
All of that is true except for him not being vocal about his identity. Speaking as someone who’s been in NYC for nearly a decade atp he’s absolutely making his identity part of it, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. He’s done Ramadan related ads, been very vocal about being Desi, and yes, at the same time has shown the most dedication to his local and national community out of the candidates. The two are not mutually exclusive. Idk what this is about dual citizenship because i didn’t say that
