It depends on the message people take from idolizing him, for example I don’t think anyone would look at a statue of Washington now and think “wow slavery was cool” despite Washington owning slaves, but most people prob idolize him for fighting against tyranny or republican values. I assume most people in Mongolia just see him as a good leader or something.

He was an actual monster. It sets a bad precedent to normalize idolizing monsters, doesn’t matter how long ago it was or how removed from our immediate culture it is

We decide ppl who fought in defense of slavery in this country don’t deserve monuments, this man enslaved 10x more than all of them did combined

You realize with your logic we prob can’t idolize anyone from the past. It depends on who he was relative to the time. I’m guessing back then most leaders weren’t opposed to conquering and plundering their neighbors.

Relative to the time slavery was actually pretty controversial Great Britain outlawed it many Europeans did in their colonies as well.

And southerners were undoubtedly fighting for slavery so there’s nothing positive or inspiring to really take from that.
