The so called “conservatives” in office currently aren’t conservative. It’s a whole new shit ideology

unfortunately they do conserve tradition, its just the 1950s tradition of being cruel to literally any minority of any kind. and they are pretty open about it. gay, trans, nonwhite, disabled, neurodivergent, alternative, nonchristian (sometimes theyre *ok* to jewish people but not much more) people and more are on a second tier.

theres this misplaced sense of undying loyalty to country that exists as well, maybe born of the jfk quote of doing for your country instead of country for you. logically the jfk quote should be about community. government literally exists for people. you dont exist for your government. you should however be a participating member of your community, helping it out. and as you said, its often about profits.
