in the UK, they’re mandating that apps that use the internet use ID verification to “ensure that minors aren’t exposed to dangerous material” not just like pornhub. everything. youtube, spotify, all the streaming services. it’s been making the rounds on twitter for a couple weeks. what’s going on in europe rn is insane. VPNs are topping the app store charts rn

The us embassy in the UK said all entrants to the US should be prepared to make their socials public to check for any controversial posts. We literally aren’t much better.

we are checking foreigners. we aren’t actively surveillancing our own citizens phones for wrong speak and bad think. at least not publicly like the UK is. you should see what they’re trying to do over there it’s actually insane and it’s gonna bleed this way if they don’t cut their shit. using AI to track what you do on websites to censor material if it thinks you’re not old enough to access it. that’s what the initial idea is, how much give is it to go from that to just straight up barring

We’ve checked citizens’ phones at the border for over a decade. Both countries suck rn when it comes to freedom of speech and privacy
