that doesn’t make it any better though. he dressed up as the happy merchant, intention or not, and never once seemed to prove to the jews that he was better than that. he just took away all the blame from himself in his apology too, and said he was given the costume and didn’t question it.

no, but he you know, could have done something to show he’s an ally instead?? there’s been dozens of opportunities to show some semblance of compassion or alliance with jews against antisemitism, the biggest being the tree of life massacre, but from him there’s always been crickets.
