The President should hold his office for a term of six years, and then after that he won’t be re-eligible. That would fix the instability that we have with our federal executive power, among other things. I’d like to hear y’all’s thoughts on this

I don’t think that would fix it. They’d rush to get everything done so they could still take the W for their party, even though they’re passing the buck (long-term effects) to the next president

The longer term and the prohibition on reelection would provide stability and prevent the influence of electoral politics on the president’s decision-making. I wouldn’t necessarily say they’d be rushed, they’d have 6 years after all. Under the current system a President would likely be the one rushed, since he’d only have much less years with the possibility of not being elected

That’s true. Should we have term limits at all though? If the people really want a third term, why shouldn’t they get one?
