i was 9 years old when my parents said “oh fuck we are so screwed if this guy gets in office”. i’m now 20. i knew they were right the whole time.

its bad in a different way tho. the “hes an idiot and hes wreckless and a liar and evil” has alway been true but the “the worlds gonna end” attitude has never been true. the world has always been shit. sometimes less shitty than others. but for the general population of the planet, not much has changed. we inappropriately catastrophize local political changes more than we do gradual environmental or social or economic progressions. its my biggest grudge with the woke movement. yes i want

trans people to be able to use their preferred bathrooms, and yes i understand the danger and the slippery slope that offers them. and yes i believe we should react strongly to that. but the reaction needs to be proportional when it comes to climate changes or international affairs that affect millions of people. i know ppl care about those issues too, its just that the gasp is bigger when its a more local niche topic compared to ones that are really really really fucking bad
