He literally balanced New York City’s 12 BILLION deficit in under 4 months. He filled tens of thousands of potholes around the city, started projects to provided affordable housing, and found ways to clear the streets of snow in record time. NYC has literally NEVER prospered under any other mayor so much and so quickly

He’s doing a great job, but the budget thing just isn’t true. A combination of state aid, one-time arrangements and optimistic savings projections balanced the budget for the next year, but that $12B is a multi-year deficit issue. It’s a problem that will need to be solved all over again next year, and the same solutions may not be available

Wait, so you’re saying he fixed a multi-year budget issue in under 4 months? Wouldn’t that mean it’s even easier to fix in the future since the annual deficit is only a fraction of that number? You know what’s also crazy??? Mamdani’s in charge of the budget next year too 😱 That means he just won’t rack up another $12 billion deficit

No, I’m saying people are representing it that way, but it’s not what happened. I’m sure he’ll come up with something next year, but it’s inaccurate and misleading to say that he solved a $12B budget problem in 4 months. He didn’t. He’s still doing amazing things, that’s just not one of them. It doesn’t do anyone any good to lie about it
