It’s as simple as a calorie deficit and meeting the basic macromolecules to live. No matter what you eat (within reason) you can meet with an appropriate amount of exercise and lose fat through said deficit.

This is kind of in the crash diets category but I need to stress the fact that you DO need a healthy amount of carbs in your diet. Carbs are not evil. Stop doing keto diets

Not advocating for calorie counting, just the basic science of losing fat

No you’re right. Fad diets and dieting culture that forced disordered eating on generations of people made the concept of calorie counting scary, evil, and cyclic causing spirals. It’s ingredient triggering now bc of it. But you have to be informed about your caloric intake to lose weight, that’s just science, and it doesn’t mean you have to obsess over every item going into your body and label it as good or bad.

Knowledge is power, and knowing that info about what you eat is POWERFUL! Not restrictive. You’re having control over your body and health! It’s a powerful amazing thing!! It just takes lots of therapy and reframing on a societal level to help us get there.

YES! Along the same vain you need some sugars too!!! Ofc, too much of anything can be detrimental. Just like too little can be. Too much protein leads to increased colon cancers. Not enough fiber leads to increased colon cancer. Too much leads to gastrointestinal distress and pain. Not enough carbs behaviorally leads to crashes and cravings, and body wise leads to heart issues, kidney damage, osteoporosis risk, and eventually even malnutrition

Yeah I’ve been figuring out the fiber balance the hard way lately since it’s something you have to work your way up to. I’m actually starting to see health impacts from low fiber, so I got a powder supplement to mix in (it’s virtually undetectable in water and so easy to use) but even a little bit extra fucks me up so bad for the first week or so 🫩

Ironically those fiber one snacks are great starting place bc they’re easy to add in once a day while building up your other meals. Which can be as simple as adding brown rice to your white rice for added fiber (if you don’t like the taste of straight brown rice) or swapping to basmati! Adding more whole veggies (like having some carrots with your afternoon bag of chips snack lol). FIBER PEOPLE!!! FIBER!!!

why wouldn’t you advocate for calorie counting? within reason it’s literally what you shouldn’t do to maintain a healthy weight
