
it’s been 7 years. if we cannot accept that people make mistakes and can grow as people then we can never progress as a society. this obsession with perpetual moral purity hurts our cause more than it helps. people fuck up, she’s changed for the better, she has apologized. i can guarantee you’re no saint, should the mistakes of your youth come to light, should you too be treated as if you said them yesterday? or would you want people to understand that you’ve grown as a person since then?
Plus she made an actual apology. It actually sounded like she meant it instead of just saying sorry so she can stop getting called out for it. Also she was a child, yes she was old enough to know better, but kids say and do a lot of dumb and fucked up stuff. I also don’t think she would be married to someone like Mamdani if she hadn’t done some personal growth and bettered her mindset
