Same with pillar wax candles (and most soy blend waxes use mostly pillar wax in the mix like Bath and Bodyworks). I tell my friends that soy candles are way worse for the environment bc of monocultures and as long as coal is around, pillar wax is around as a byproduct and is significantly better by every metric unless they have asthma. Beeswax is the way to go but be aware that pillar > soy any day of the week
