I wish we could talk about gender politics without people talking about how their gender has it worse men and women. Our problem are not equally bad for sure. But like a broken foot hurts and so does a heart attack

If we get real it’s because if they did complain about it they wouldn’t be accepted

I am a liberal man who cannot find a relationship because I am physically unattractive and women are just as shallow as men. Around 40% of the time I send a photo of myself to a woman who asks for one, they literally just unadd me or block me. They literally don’t even get the chance to know me to find out my values before they end the conversation.

There’s nothing wrong with “complaining” about being lonely or confronting issues with your mental health. It’s when you place the blame on women that it becomes an issue.

I think in order to solve the growing issue of male friendship collapse, we need to create and foster more male coded spaces and encourage boys and men to participate in them. This means environments where “ball busting” and roughhousing are the norm rather than ridiculed out.

That’s called the fallacy of relative privation or the “first world problems” fallacy

But that’s the problem- every time someone makes a space like that, women want to join in and they inevitably change the atmosphere, and it makes men the bad guys when we point that out.

I don’t think that’s an issue as long as it’s not used as an environment to foster sexism. I don’t think “roughhousing” or “ball busting” necessarily means it will be a sexist environment but I think those things kinda go hand in hand when we talk about male spaces.

With that being said I think a lot of those spaces already exist in places like the gym, martial arts, boxing, shooting, etc

Shooting is expensive and I’d like a male-encouraged space that doesn’t involve me getting my head caved in

I think there’s something there about nerd culture and its perceived sexism to be talked about with the example of the Big Bang Theory. Everyone called those characters sexist for how they treat Penny and assuming she wouldn’t be into their nerd culture when they’re… 100% correct. She makes fun of the male characters constantly for having nerd interests, so why would they ever want to include her in those activities? But they get called sexist for that!

While I think gaming is warming up to being more inclusive to women, there was literally a trend going back years at the this point to vote kick women as soon as they talked in your game on CSGO, which is one of the most popular games in the world lmao. There is still rampant sexism in the gaming industry.

Yeah, I think the “Men’s Shed’s Association” in the UK is a great model! The backlash that they received (and continue to receive) is quite saddening though, and is an example of the atmosphere change you’re referencing. I wish people would just let others live their lives and support one another more. It’s sad to see a group that genuinely wants to solve a serious issue get so much hate.

But most of those suggestions I gave were specifically addressing the “need” for ball busting/ rough housing. That’s why I chose them.

For every example of legit sexism, there was another example of a feminist inventing issues where there were none and/or trying to make a quick buck by shitting on gamers and the industry. By making it more inclusive, we sanded down the round hole into a square one and now all the round pegs fall straight through.
